For the first time, we unveil the design and backstory of our proposal in a video featuring our founders and CEOs, Nacho Bermúdez and Diego Martínez, the FOOTDISTRICT team, and the city of León.

The inspiration for the garment comes from the city’s origin, the Roman legion that settled here and gave it its name. In fact, León is an evolution of the term «Legion.»

The Legio VII left its mark on León. A sense of community that in the 1960s gave rise to urban tribes and subcultures centered around music. León pioneered in hosting international festivals in Spain, with the events of 1966 and 1967 providing the defining elements for those growing tribes and laying the groundwork for a culture, both musical and aesthetic, brimming with external influences.

This feeling of belonging, shared by the Roman legions and urban subcultures, remains present in the local idiosyncrasy through festivals tinged with purple that maintain the legacy of those originals from the sixties.

Separated by centuries, these formations are interpreted from the duality between battle, competition, and enjoyment. This duality and game of opposites are very much present in FOOTDISTRICT’s own identity, and in the emblem of the garment, showcasing a reinterpretation of our logo through the reference to the pointed arch, characteristic of the Gothic art of our cathedral.
